Excerpts from a day in the life of Howling Duck Ranch.com weblog
This is the blog for our little farm in Skagit county. Here we have Shetland sheep and Nigerian Dwarf goats. In addition we have donkeys, cattle, pigs, chickens, geese, and peafowl. The blog describes the weekly activities here.
This site is about my life as a farmgirl, wife, mother and grandmother. We have a beautiful 22 year old granddaughter and and the cutest 3 year old grandson. We own two farms in Craig County Virginia, leasing one and raising beef cattle on the other.

Awesome bloom!
The California poppy is actually something else, perhaps an Iceland poppy. Our native poppy is simpler than that. Also, the hibiscus right after it is a clematis. They sort of sound the same.

I guess the grower put the wrong name on it but it does have several different colors on the one plant. Hope it makes it through this heat and the coming winter.

It looks like an Icleand poppy to me. I do not know much about them.

Because this my first year of planting my new garden I’m hoping next year will be spectacular! No hummingbirds and I have Bee balm too! Will the gardenia plants you gave me come up again next year! Or were they annuals? Are you around next week? We can private message that info. I need my Rita fix π

Absolutely beautiful, Rita. The perfect pictures for your sadly appropriate title. Letβs hope that somehow the world gets past all this turmoil and scary pandemic soon. Take care.
