The last three weeks have been warm and then cold, rain, ice, sleet, snow, we’ve had it all.
Our cherry trees were in full bloom and BAM and now they’re brown and all the blooms have fell off.
Our peach trees had started blooming and BAM, the blooms are falling off.
Heavy bloom on the plum trees looks now like they’ve been burnt.
The apple trees are budding and the quince tree is budding. The rhubarb leaves are curled up and the asparagus stems are mushy.
We’ve had a lot of very warm days and then the temps drop in the 20’s*. Mother Nature just isn’t being very nice in this spring of 2018.
Oh your weather sounds terrible, no wonder you have been losing blossom, such a shame ..

Gosh, I am so sorry! I understand that frustration. Our pears and apricots are gone again for another season. So you and I continue on hoping for settled warm weather.

It has been a very cold spring. That’s terrible having those killing frosts so late. I’ve been dragging my tomatoes and pepper seedlings in from the unheated greenhouse at night, hopefully some real spring weather is just around the corner.

Oh, that is so sad! I know it happens in other climates, but it is sad to read about anyway. It happens here only rarely. That is why orchards were so common here decades ago. It is frustrating when it happens, after so carefully pruning and working with the trees before bloom.

Oh, no, that’s terrible. Since our blossoms don’t come out until late May, all our recent cold wind, rain, sleet, ice pellets, and even some snow only damage our spirit! 😉
