While I was at work on Monday, hubby worked down the garden which had been plowed early April. After we had dinner, he laid off the rows for planting the potatoes which he had cut last week.
We planted five rows of potatoes and then he laid off the rows for beans and corn. While he planted the beans and corn and brought my protected plants back into the yard, set out my new rhubarb, fed & watered the chickens and gathered the eggs and “set” another hen with eleven eggs. Then I went to the greenhouse to check on the progress of my seedlings, watered them and picked up the cucumber, squash, cantaloupe and watermelon seeds which I’ll plant this afternoon if hubby doesn’t beat me to it.
The damage to the fruit crop won’t be known for a day or two but we had 32* upon waking yesterday morning and know it will affect it some. The trees are fully leafed now which will protect some but not the grapes, plums and peaches. Mother Nature is making think about not rushing so much!!
